Forgiveness and Hell: the Ultimate Inconsistency

Let's look at what Luke has to say: 19 “There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day. 20 And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, 21 who would gladly have eaten

Why Did God Create Material Beings At All?

The problem of evil is ubiquitous in philosophy of religion: Here is a decent version of the argument: 1. There exist instances of intense suffering which an omnipotent, omniscient being could have prevented without thereby losing some greater good or permitting some evil equally bad or worse. 2. An omniscient,

God Loves Infant Death - How Most Souls in Heaven are Automatons

Pharaoh and the Hardening of Hearts

I want to now talk about the intervening God, and how God can force people’s hands. It seems to me that Christians quite often have their cakes, and then eat them too! How greedy (though I often wonder what the point of having a cake is, if not to

Adam and Eve

Adam & Eve as Bad Test Cases, and God's Moral Culpability

There is a two-horned dilemma concerning Adam and Eve that Christians of any persuasion (who take the pair's existence as somehow true, and certainly see the Fall as making sense) must overcome. We have a situation whereby Adam and Eve fail some kind of test and, as a

God Cannot Be Perfect Because Intrinsic Perfect Does Not Make Sense

I am reposting this article as it is good to get previous writing seen by a new audience: So in a [not so-] recent post I was talking about how God, prior to creation (at least according to classical interpretations of God based on the Ontological Argument), had ontological perfection.

God's Unforgiveable Sin

This is another short and sweet one from my friend, Julian Haydon. See what you think. GOD'S UNFORGIVABLE SIN 1. Before the Creation, there was only God. 2. There was no sin, sorrow or suffering — temporal or eternal — for man or animals. 3. God created the world and

God's Love

This short piece is another one from my friend Julian Haydon. Again, concise and pointed. GOD'S LOVE God: all-knowing; all powerful and all good. A loving Father, just, forgiving and merciful. Before the Creation God broke his endless rest and created mankind from innocent nothingness. We were thereby

My friend Julian Haydon has these words of summary. What think you? THE WHOLE CHRISTIAN STORY (In 101 Words) This sorrow-filled life, thrust upon us without consent or knowledge of its final peril, is but a trial. One day, Jesus will decide based on what we believed about him, whether

A Succinct Synopsis of the Nonsense of Easter

Easter is the time for the christian church. Christmas is all lovely and present-y, but Easter is what it's all really about. It is the climax of Jesus' existence. But this is really what is going on: JesusManGod sacrificed himself to himself to sit on his own

Why Would Any Believing Character Bother To Fight Against God?

This is a pretty common idea, but it came up in conversation so I thought I'd mention it again. If you were to accept that God is definitely omnipotent, then fighting against God is ultimately doomed to failure. This happens in dramatised films, of course. Whether it be
