The argument against God from sporadic miracles

OnlySky · The argument against God from sporadic miracles | Jonathan MS Pearce I recently debated apologist Jonathan McLatchie about miracles and, during it, I brought up an argument I have been mulling over: the "argument against God from sporadic miracles." This is also a position I discussed a little

Exodus Sidebar: The Exodus Story Is Morally Obscene

As you will know, I have been running a series debunking the Exodus account and, in fact, this has now become a huge book project, co-authored with archaeologist Rebecca Bradley and with the foreword to be written by Assyriologist Dr Joshua Bowen. I am presently writing a chapter on the

The Problem of Evil and the Necessity of Suffering

The Problem of Evil is a well-trodden battlefield. How can there be so much (or any) suffering in light of an OmniGod who cares enough, knows enough and is powerful enough to do something about it. The answers are generally along the lines of: 1. No suffering is gratuitous -

Abiogenesis

If Low-Level Life Exists on Other Planets, What of God?

With the news that certain cloud compositions on Venus are best explained by molecular Venutian life existing, this prompts some interesting questions. If life can only be explained by God, that naturalism struggles to explain abiogenesis, as certain theists (including creationists) claim, then why do we have complex sentient life

The Argument from Experiential Knowledge

I love discussing all things OmniGod, that is the ramifications of a god that has omniscience, omnipotence and omnibenevolence. This God is the one of "classical theism". I have written a book compiling my musings on the matter (the reasonably priced ebook The Problem with "God"

The Problem of Sleep

Using Common Sense to Not See God: Christianity Cannot Be Deduced from Nature

Bob Seidensticker, of Cross Examined here at Patheos, contributed a chapter to the recent book Not Seeing God: Atheism in the 21st Century. In his piece, he joins a few of us in the first section who look to philosophically dismantle the notion of God. The book is set into

Why the Free Will Argument Is More Important than the God Argument

As many of you know, I have a great interest in the free will debate, more specifically, the libertarian free will debate. I deny that an agent can really rationally and consciously choose to do otherwise in identical situations. What this means is that ever agent (you and I) will

God's Omissive Will and the Problem of Evil
