Goodacre on Markan Priority and the Gospel Datings

I listened to some Mark Goodacre some years ago and have referred to him in my own texts, and it was great to watch him here. I loved this talk. I got a lot out of this especially the talk of the destruction of the Temple and the so-called prophecies,

Debunking the Exodus IV: Hardening of Hearts

The Exodus is a story that is hugely important to Christians (and Jews), as can be seen by some comments by Christians on the previous articles in this series. I want to continue my claims that the Exodus never happened because of both historical issues and theological/philosophical ones by

Exodus Sidebar: Replying to Armstrong about Camels

I recently posted my latest piece on the historicity of the Exodus accounts in the Bible, this time concerning the historical problems of the mentions of camels in the Old Testament. Catholic blogger and apologist Dave Armstrong has attempted to refute my claims with a post of his own, to

Debunking the Exodus III: Camels

The Exodus account is one of the key stories of the Bible, creating a foundation upon which so much else in the Bible is built. Without the truth of the Exodus, the truth of Moses, the Mosaic Law and any number of other claims are brought into suspicion. Previously, I

The Resurrection: A Critical Examination of the Easter Story

As some of you will know, I have recently released a book looking very sceptically at the history, theology, philosophy and biblical exegesis concerning the resurrection of Jesus. I really proud of this book (The Resurrection: A Critical Examination of the Easter Story [UK])and I collaborated with a number

Appearing to the 500-Plus: Debating the Evidence.

As I sure you are all aware, Twitter is the best place to have a debate concerning biblical historicity and epistemology. It really lends itself, as a platform, to robust debates that can bring into play the best arguments and the most robust defences, together with top sources. I really

It Turns out the Whole Unfairness of Evidence Apportioning Boils down to "Free Will"

Who knew. The background: Catholic apologist Dave Armstrong and I have been arguing about the unfair distribution of evidence for God in the world and over time. This has been a somewhat protracted argument due to too much time spent erecting straw men and not enough time doing the legwork.

Doubting the Lessons from Doubting Thomas: Responding to Dave Armstrong Again

I started off this debate the other day with a short piece about the unfairness of the distribution of evidence as exemplified by the Doubting Thomas episode in gJohn. Catholic Dave Armstrong replied, and I duly responded. I then finally found a comment in one of my threads, by Dave,

Doubting Thomas: A Response to Catholic Dave Armstrong

Yesterday, I wrote a very short piece concerning the episode of doubting Thomas in John 20: 24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, who was called e]">[e]Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen

Jesus' Execution as a Metaphor for Yom Kippur

Paine and Hume Regarding the Resurrection

Is this all we need when considering the Resurrection of Jesus? When examining artifacts from the past, historians assume that nature worked back then as it does today; otherwise, anything goes. Ana Kasparian On Christian Biblical Exceptionalism

This video went viral recently and for good reason. It's brilliant. It was actually originally a rant from The Young Turks' panellist in 2018 but resurfaced due to Poland's right-wing, Viktor Orbana-esque government looking to deliver a moral rollback to its population in terms of
