Welcome to my world. Our world.

So you've heard? We've moved. Some of us have set up residency for the first time. And we haven't just moved, we've upgraded. Built up. Built down. Spread sideways. Reached inwards. Stretched outwards. Invested. Predicted and future-proofed. Designed. Tested. Improved. Fortified. And

From Committed Pastor to Academia to Atheism to Agnosticism

Dr Joshua Bowen is a fascinating guy. He's awesome for a bunch of reasons. First, he has agreed to write the foreword to my forthcoming book (with archaeologist Rebecca Bradley) on the Exodus. Second, he is just a really nice guy. Third, with his wife Megan Lewis, he

Report Recommends Atheism To Be Taught in Religious Education in UK

I meant to post about this a few weeks back. A two-year report in the Religious Education in the UK has concluded with some interesting recommendations. When Americans Say They Believe in God, What Do They Mean?

The Pew Research Center has some very revealing statistics just out. Whilst we have seen a general decrease in the number of Americans who most certainly believe in God, what comprises the segment of people who do not certainly believe in God? Do they still kind of believe? As Pew

April Ingersoll: Why I Am An Agnostic

My friend Julian Haydon has created a website dedicated to the great agnostic, Robert G. Ingersoll. The site is set out like a newspaper and is a labour of love. Please check it out – the link is below. To give respect to both men, I will be posting some Ingersoll

February Ingersoll: On Belief

Yes, it's March. Well done clever clogs. But I have been a bit busy to notice, and I forgot February's Ingersoll (and January's, for that matter). My friend Julian Haydon has created a website dedicated to the great agnostic, Robert G. Ingersoll. The site

Humanist and Activist Carrie Fisher Dies

Yes, I am sure you all know that Carrie Fisher has died, unless you have been living in the mouth of a strange space monster living in an asteroid for the last week or so. But were you aware of the other things that she has done in her life,

Real Deconversion Story #14 - Anthony Toohey

Here is another account in my series of real-life deconversion stories. They are often painful, psychological affairs, as you can see from the various accounts. Anthony Toohey contacted me through facebook and ended up writing this account. Please check out my book of deconversion accounts, edited with Tristan Vick, which

Atheism IS a Belief, Rather Than a Lack Thereof. Just Not a Belief System.

I am of the school of thought that atheism is a belief. It is either a positive belief in a negative statement or a negative belief in a positive statement, which essentially amount to the same thing. I believe that God does not exist. or I do not believe that

Agnostics are just atheists without balls. Discuss.

“Agnostics are just atheists without balls.” ― Stephen Colbert, I Am America Discuss. For the record, I am an agnostic atheist who works and lives everyday as if there is no god, is pretty sure there is no god, but cannot (as with almost everything) be utterly sure that there is

My Updated Top Atheistic and Agnostic Songs

I have decided to recompile a list of my favourite atheistic /agnostic / philosophical songs. There are many on other lists which I do not know and feel I would like to, but here is my short list. I have made a comment with each and maybe copied the odd lyric

New Britian Uncovered Survey, including on religion

The Guardian reports this extremely interesting set of British attitudinal survey results. Check the ones on religion out: Religion Which of the following religions or belief systems, if any, do you associate with? Real Deconversion Story #7 - Phil Stilwell

Here is another account in my series of real-life deconversion stories. They are often painful, psychological affairs, as you can see from the various accounts. Phil Stilwell, someone whom I came across on facebook (The Unbelievable page). It is a few years old now, but well worth the read. Happy re
