Replying to Comments
I have always prided myself on reading every single one of my comments and replying to at least the most pertinent ones. I always wondered why, when I blogged for John Loftus, he only rarely commented. People like Hemant Mehta basically never comment on their blogs. The simple fact of the matter is that when you reach a tipping point of critical mass, it becomes practically impossible. I used to go through my nested conversations of DISQUS notification emails, but it only nests about 50% of them now. I checked my DISQUS email folder the other day and I have over 14,000 unread emails. 14,000 comments, just in a relatively short time.
Now, I had actually read many of them directly on the blog. But the point is, if you ask me something directly or try to start a conversation with me, this may go unanswered. Sorry.
Jim Jones is amazing - he is effectively my only comment moderator (let me know if you want to help - I allow basically all but the most despicable comments!). Jim - let me know here if I can send you any of my books as thanks.
And I do still get sucked into conversations.
Also, if you have any guest post ideas or contributions to make, or want to add to my series recounting deconversion stories, please, please do. Contact me through the contact form.
Thanks so much for being part of this community. I will continue to try to interact where possible.
Also, I do pride myself on having a really coherent world view. If you think you have me in a corner with a question I have not answered, it is never because I have run away from the difficult question and will always be because it has become lost in a sea of thousands upon thousands of comments. I might make a separate page as a place for people to post such comments. Basically, keep haranguing me and I'll get there in the end.
Hang in there, peeps. This is a labour of love and if I fall short, let me know. Laters JP
